Sustainability
We recognise our responsibility for reducing our impact on the environment and operate a range of policies to minimise the use of energy and water, all of which are incorporated into our company policy and site-specific delivery approach. We are proud of the changes we have made, and continue to make, to make Matthews and Tannert more environmentally conscious.
Sustainability in Practice
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we have implemented a comprehensive sustainability strategy that is grounded in four key pillars.
Carbon Reduction
Implementing efficient technologies and low-emission practices.

Sustainable Resource Use
Responsible procurement and waste minimisation.

Biodiversity Enhancement
Promoting greener communities with local initiatives.

Tenant Empowerment
Enabling residents to make sustainable choices at home
Sustainability drives all levels of our business, from governance to delivery, with KPIs aligned to the HACT Social Value Framework.
Our transparent reporting guarantees measurable environmental and social benefits.

Carbon Footprint
One of our primary initiatives company wide is reducing our carbon footprint. Some of the initiatives we have taken to reduce our carbon footprint have included the following:
Upgrading Staff Company Cars to
Electric Vehicles
In the last 24 months, we have introduced 11 new fully electric vehicles.

Upgrading
Operative Vans
Alike to our company cars, we are also seeking to replace our older and less environmentally friendly trade vehicles.

Efficient Programming
and Planning
We are seeking to improve our programming system, this will aid us in reducing our carbon footprint even further. We achieve this through efficient and strategic planning of works, aiming to reduce travelling time for our operatives and generate less air pollution by travel

Recycling
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we have implemented a comprehensive waste reduction and recycling program across all our construction sites. To aid waste management, we have implemented a reduce, reuse and recycle system that is used company wide. This was created with the intention of reducing our waste to landfill.

We frequently monitor our waste reports, continuously seeking to improve ourselves in this.

We are especially proud that across the Company as a whole, year to date, only 0.67% of all of our waste created goes to landfill with 99.33% being recycled. We are striving to reduce our waste to landfill figure further to 0.5%.
Sustainable Services and Supplies
To reduce our carbon footprint, we use as much local labour to deliver our works as possible. In addition to this, we utilise local supply chains. Not only does this add value to the community, but it also reduces our carbon footprint from excessive road travel.
We are dedicated to continuously improving our sustainability practices. By regularly reviewing our processes, setting measurable targets, and tracking our performance, we strive to ensure that our company contributes to a brighter future for the environment.
